Join us for the 2016 Harvest Hustle 5K/1K on Saturday, October 22!
The Harvest Hustle is the annual fundraiser for OHSU’s Institute on Development and Disability (IDD). Each year we dedicate the proceeds from the run to programs which directly enhance the lives of children and families who experience disability.
This year we will be supporting four IDD programs that help children with disabilities ranging from mobility issues, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and speech and hearing disorders.
We have a new route this year that is the first of its kind!
Our new route will start in front of the Collaborative Life Sciences Building on the west side of the Willamette River and continue to cross the new Tilikum Crossing and Hawthorne Bridge. This is the first time this route will be available in Portland! It is an amazing opportunity for you and your friends and family to run/walk across two of Portland’s most beautiful bridges and enjoy the Willamette River scenery while benefiting people with disabilities and their families.
Families throughout the region turn to the IDD for care, compassion, and resources for infants, children, and adults with developmental disabilities or special health needs. In addition to clinical service, the IDD actively participates in research, public health/community outreach, and education/training to continuously improve knowledge and practice while working with patients and families in the hospital, in outpatient clinics, or in the patient’s home.
We had a great turnout this past October and are hoping for a bigger turnout in 2016! It will be a great time for competitive athletes, families, advocates, and those who wish to participate in a community event that will have a lasting impact.
